INTA organizes a discussion dedicated to Intellectual Property in East Timor

December 5, 2017

Inventa International participated in the 1st discussion dedicated to Intellectual Property Protection in East Timor, on December 1st. The conference was organized by the International Trademark Association (INTA) and its various panels focused on the importance and best practices of trademark protection and anti-counterfeiting awareness.

Local entrepreneurs, police officers, customs’ and inspection members, representatives of the Government and investment organizations attended this discussion.

Inventa International had the opportunity to participate as a panelist in the topics on trademark enforcement and anti-counterfeiting law models.

East Timor - the newest member of WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) - does not have an Industrial Property law, which would be very important for increasing legal certainty for local and foreign entrepreneurs, and also to combat counterfeiting which has been presenting serious risks to the public health of Timorese consumers.

While the new Industrial Property Bill is not approved, Inventa International will maintain the cautionary notices board in a major local newspaper.

We congratulate the organization for the initiative and look forward to new events.
