From 7 to 9 December 2026, the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO) will mark its 50th anniversary with the IP Africa Conference and Exhibition, taking place at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka, Zambia. The choice of venue reflects the city’s historical significance, as it was here that the agreement establishing ARIPO was signed in 1976.

Co-hosted by ARIPO, the Government of Zambia and the Patents and Companies Registration Agency (PACRA), the event will bring together IP offices, government representatives and practitioners from across Africa under the theme “Fostering Innovation and Creativity for a Sustainable Future for Africa”. The three-day programme will feature strategic discussions, regional updates, expert perspectives and networking opportunities, culminating in a commemorative gala dinner.

Nicolette Biggar, Attorney at Law, will represent Inventa and speak on 8 December at the panel “Enhancing Trademark and Brand Protection in Africa: Enabling Inclusive Growth and Global Competitiveness”. With two decades of legal experience and a focus on end-to-end trademark portfolio strategy, Nicolette will contribute her expertise to discussions on strengthening brand protection across the continent. The event will also provide an opportunity to reconnect with clients, partners and colleagues who have been part of Inventa’s journey in Africa, while building new connections across the regional IP community.
