Vítor Palmela Fidalgo has a Master’s Degree in Law, a Post-Graduate Degree in Copyright and Information Society and Arbitration Law, and is currently taking a PhD in Intellectual Property Law at Lisbon’s University Law School. He is also a Researcher at the Private Law Research Center (CIDP) and Deputy Director of the Legal Journal "Propriedades Intelectuais", published by the Catholic University of Lisbon.
Author of several academic works in Portugal, Germany, Brazil or Spain, with highlight for "The Compulsory Licenses of Industrial Property Rights", winner of the First Prize "Professor Doutor José de Oliveira Ascensão", by the Portuguese Association Intellectual Property Law (APDI). He was recently appointed by the World Trademark Review (WTR) as one of the best professionals to work in Portugal for Trademarks.
Currently holding the position of Legal Director at Inventa International, Vítor coordinates the Trademark and Patent Attorney’s team, a role in which he has extensive experience. Combining the legal and business perspective, Vítor works alongside the clients in order to set and carry out the most adequate Intellectual Property (IP) strategies, with the aim to protect and enhance the profitability of all IP assets. He also deals regularly with matters such as contracts regarding the transfer and licensing of IP rights, and specializes in internationalization strategies of these rights.
Vitor is also Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, as well as Arbitrator at the Center for Arbitration of Industrial Property, Domain Names, Firms and Denominations - Arbitrare.
